WCEC Educational Programs
What a wonderful time we had at the festival! …The kids just said, “we loved it”. We want to get on the list for next year again… The performances were great and the workers were very patient with the little ones. Great Job!

Around the World in One Day
Each year in mid-May, this premier educational program is presented to school students on the first day of the annual Pittsburgh Folk Festival. The Around the World in One Day program provides students with the unique opportunity to interact with and learn about the history, geography and customs of a variety of cultures in a single day field trip. The program meets PA curriculum guidelines for multicultural education by offering students hands-on participation in folk crafts; traditional ethnic dances, songs and music; and cultural exhibits. The program includes heritage performances and the festival international kitchens are open for lunch. A nominal per student entrance fee is charged for this program.
WCEC, offers year-round multicultural educational programming to Pittsburgh area schools. Volunteers from various cultures are available to deliver interactive classroom presentations on subjects such as history, geography, culture, folk crafts and language. This programming is offered free to schools based on available grant funding.
WCEC partners with a variety of organizations throughout the year to provide educational workshops and authentic heritage entertainment to the public. Cost varies based on event requirements and available funding.
